I don’t listen to pop music much, but I respect all genres. I came across this track today which certainly sounds like its taken influences from a dubstep sound with a bit of Bjork thrown in. Turns out its Christina Aguilera under some yet to be announced alias. I didn’t much listen to her a few years back when she blew up, has she always been making tracks like this?

Anyway definitely worth a listen… Kinda soothing sound to it. NICE

For me, Wednesday evenings usually consist of sitting at home with bangers & mash & if i really want to push the boat out, i’ll make myself some onion gravy to boot.
This week i thought i’d mix it up a bit, get myself down the Roundhouse in Camden for a serious brock out!

The Concept:
23 Members of the Original STEP:ONE crew or Good Friends that we have since met with trusted Musical influences are being asked to submit two tunes that to them sum up ‘Day & Night’.

‘Imagine Your rolling around in the heat of the Summer, at a festival, surrounded by good friends and good times, life is perfect! Remember that tune you once heard that made you wish you were back there? This one tune brings back summer’s memories in a flash. This one tune sums up the perfect Summer’s Day anthem.

In contrast to that everyone has their tune that means PARTY HARD!! Was it deep within the Glade at Glastonbury or back in the Arena’s of One Nation, Metalheadz or Moving Shadow, which one tune stopped you in your tracks and the bass kicked in your stomach? Which one tune for you means its after dark and the Funktion One’s are turned up to full?

Any tempo… Any Genre… It just has to mean something to you!

The 23 selected members will be asked to submit these tunes which will go out on a double CD ready for summer. These will be given out and not sold.

Had to share this one, you know when you find a tune that you can put on repeat and listen to again and again, it comes from all round dubstep badman Burial. This tune oozes his trademark vocal sound and epic sound scapes some true production work in this one! Think i’ve played this tune a good few times, still lovin it though! Enjoy…

I first heard this tune on Soul Jazz Records Box of Dub Vol.1, another great tune from this compilation is Paul Rose’s AKA Scuba’s Respirator! Scuba once a Londoner has now taken up residency in Berlin. Rose being a true pioneer in the Dub / Techno crossover that I simply love, if you too find yourself grooving to this beat then check out Bristol boy Headhunter, he’s top of my list of favourite producers at the moment (and has been for some months to be honest!
